Females were well represented in the Japanese Cinema Splash film '21 Century Girl'. The omnibus film consists of 14 short films directed by women born in the late 80s to 90s. Producer/director Ū-ki Yamato said she was honored to join a new generation of young female directors and championed the far reaching effect of cinema. Actress Ai Hashimoto added her hope that the film strikes a chord with the audience and also shared her belief in the power of cinema.
