On December 4, 2022, the 30th Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show (HCS), Japan's largest custom festival, was held at Pacifico Yokohama. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this year’s event marked a triumphant return to its traditional format, complete with guest invitations and an impressive turnout of custom enthusiasts.
Despite rigorous infection prevention measures, the event faced a setback as overseas guests' vehicles were unable to arrive due to a port strike. However, the guests themselves attended, and major sponsors like Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad, Indian Motorcycle, and Royal Enfield, making its debut at HCS, showcased their booths, contributing to the lively atmosphere.
The 30th edition of HCS was an anniversary celebration that likely recorded the highest attendance ever, with an impressive gathering of custom enthusiasts. Official attendance figures are pending, but the event drew a crowd of 21,000, significantly surpassing the 11,000 attendees in 2021.
This year’s show featured special categories such as "90 Years Deuse" for the 1932 Ford Model B "Deuce," "Air Cooled in Action" organized by Flatt 4, and "Unforgettable Side Valve" for models equipped with side-valve engines. These special displays, along with the main custom machines and highlights from the ride-in show, made the 30th Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show a memorable milestone.
